so i am waitlisted to uc davis right now and im just wondering

if i pay my deposit for the housing stuff at cal poly slo, and if i get accepted to davis and i attend to davis, do i get my money back? cause my friend is telling me to hurry up and do my housing or else its full at the new dorms!!

what should i do? pay my deposit?.. can i get my money back if i don’t go?

im so confussed!

You should pay for housing at Cal Poly. You can get all but $20 (I think) up until Aug. (look at the housing site for exact figures) You will not likely get into the new dorms (Cerro?) at this point. Everyone who has already paid will be ahead of you and get their choice before you. I have heard that all of the singles at Cerro are already given out. You may get into other dorms you like. It would be smart to go ahead and pay and then wait and see about Davis. You will be able to get nearly all of the $800 back.
Hope this helped!

wow, is it 100% i won’t be in cerro vista? i really want to be in those dorms -_-!! i don’t like the other ones at all

does cerro vista have 3 roommate rooms? or is it just for 2? im so confussed LOL.!

Cerro has suites with 4 single rooms. there is a kitchen, two baths and a living area. I would call and ask at the Housing Dept. Someone here posted that when they asked about housing, the person mentioned that all of the singles were already given out. I guess a lot of people have requested them as a first choice. Remember that people have been accepted for CP since January for early decision and then a large number of people in Feb. Since it is first come first served, there must be a lot of people already signed up for housing and requesting the Cerro apartments.

Please look on the Housing site on the main Cal Poly site. You can see the info about each dorm. They all have good things about them. have you ever been on a tour of them?

what do you mean by ‘singles’ for cerro vista?

Sorry for any confusion. They are suites with 4 single bedrooms and a shared living room, kitchen and 2 bathrooms. It is basically an apartment.
I read that the Housing Department told someone on the phone that they Cerro rooms are basically gone already because so many people chose it as 1st or second choice. Soemone who is just signing up now, will not likely get into Cerro.

This is not for sure, as I did not call and hear it myself. I just remember someone mentioning what they were told.

Cerro Vista is where the put most of the transfer students - and housing says that they have plenty more room ‘reserved’ for transfer students… if not enough transfer take it I’m sure they’ll open it to freshmen. Now if you’re talking about Poly Canyon (thats the newest apartment complex), then yes its most likely full since thats where most continuing students want to stay.

Okay, so I had the time to call Housing today to ask a couple of questions:

*For the Cerro Dorms, you can request 3 roommates ( they each have to choose you as well and put Cerro as the first choice)

*They have no way of knowing if any of the dorm options are already “taken” so to speak because people can change up until June 1st. They don’t even look at them until then. Then the computer looks at each person’s choice based on their place in line (date when deposit was paid) so, that means there is no way to know if any dorms are more likely to be “full”. Just pick your favorites and see what happens!

Yes, the Cerro dorms are given to transfer students and the rest freshmen. A large number of freshmen live there because so many other students live in Poly Canyon.

Not sure why it takes until Aug. 20th to hear where students will live. It seems that they should be able to let students know well before then.
