Getting dumber?

Last year in Calc AB I usually received 98-100% on every test. This year, in Calc BC, I struggle to get 90% and I take sometimes 2 hours on tests everyone finishes in 40-50 minutes.

What's happening to me? I don't do homework assignments anymore, but there is no way that can be the problem.

Why couldn’t homework assignments be the problem? I’m sure if you did the homework every night, you’d be able to do the tests in a much more time efficient manner, plus it offers extra practice - so you become a lot more familiar with the material.

LOL, I advocate for homework. I’m THAT person.

You’re not getting dumber. That’s a cop-out. The work got harder and requires more effort than you’re currently demonstrating.

If not doing homework isn’t the problem why bring it up lol?

It’s probably not doing homework that is the problem.

Fix your habits, like halcyon said, you’ve got a cop-out excuse that won’t fly when you struggle on your next test

good luck.

If you’re in BC, have already taken AB, got a “98%-100%” in the class, why the heck are you having trouble now? The people who’ve already taken AB in my BC class are having a cake walk. Unless…that A+ didn’t transfer over to your exam score…

Suck it up. Work harder. Do your homework. And, please, get that time down because those tests should not be taking that long unless it’s a full exam.

I got a 5. Could it be lack of sleep? I used to get 8-10+ hours of sleep a day now I barely get 6. I guess I’ll start doing homework though.

Are you focusing? Are you putting forth the effort? I know if I’m not fully into something, I consciously drag it out…

Maybe for once in your life, you are actually being challenged.

This is why I’m graduating high school this year (sophomore). :)

How did you get 8-10 hours of sleep as a high school student? I know 0 people who get that much sleep.

And the problem definitely is that you’re not doing the homework.

Oh, it’s definitely possible. >:]

Okay, so I think you have enough people telling you to do your homework, so I won’t say anything about that ;)

Like purmou, I think that you’re just being challenged for once, and there’s nothing wrong with that! Going through high school I’ve often had the thought that I was getting dumber, when really I was just getting challenged more. Maybe like me, everything has come to you easily before and you didn’t need to work hard. I know I got too used to not studying for tests that when I started taking AP classes I struggled at first before I had to learn to put in a little more effort. Now I’m doing fine. This is actually really good for you, even if it might not feel like it right now.

Could be lack of sleep also. It does make concentrating harder.

I found out I got a 92%. All my points off were due to errors in my “WORK.” I got the problems correct and errors on simplifying/having correct work shown.

I guess I’m not getting dumber after all. Man I need to do the Einstein distraction index all over again.
