Hi! I am new here and I was wondering if I can get some advice for the english section of the ACT. I took the first practice test in the Real Act Prep Guide and all of my scores were above 30 with no prep, except I got a 24 in the english! I was also wondering if these tests are accurate in giving you an idea of what your scores will be.
I did a lot of prep for the SAT, and took that in november and only got an 1850, again the the writing section was my downfall. I just can't seem to get the correct answer.

HMM.. well preparing for writing (I got a 35 on writing minus the essay with the essay a 32 =() anyway um I prepared for the SAT just like you. I used the how to score the perfect 2400? for the writing. Then again, english is my forte so it might not help others as much.

I’ve noticed that the ACT always throws in a couple questions regarding restrictive/nonrestrictive appositives ---> clue.

If your school district is anything like mine, then you probably have no idea what a restrictive appositive is, much less the difference between a adjective and an adverb. Yes, unfortunately, my school district doesn’t require grammar to be taught outside of the most basic level. The first time I took the test, in April, I only got a 23. Frustrated with my score, and realizing it imperative that I improve my writing for college, I begin studying grammar for an hour each day, using various free websites. My hard work paid great dividends the next time I took the test in October. I got a 31...and most the ones that I missed were due to misreading (AARRGHGHGGH!!).

salsa--any websites that you feel helped you out a lot. I do not even think my school has covered anything grammar related.

Anybody else have any advice?
