I applied november 1st and it said it received all of my materials november 23rd.
these are all the things that I put into my application
im an in state senior attending the 10th best high school in the nation according to us news.
3.51 gpa (6 honors classes and 7 ap classes including senior year)
1880 sat, 1290 cr and math
29 act
submitted both tests

ec: class asb VP, tennis 4 years (captain 2 years, mvp soph, most inspirational junior and senior year, 1st place in state for doubles junior year). volunteered at uw medical center junior summer, and at hopelink senior summer. took astronomy 101 at the UW last summer and got a 3.2 gpa. play guitar, and play trombone in wind ensemble and jazz ensemble, 1st trombone in jazz band last two years which got 1st place at a prestigious music festival last year. member of tri M music honor society. went on a 3 week france exchange program in nantes.

I put alot of effort into my essays. my personal essay was about how I got suspended from school for streaking in france during the exchange program, it sounds a little ridiculous, but my counselor really liked it because its not the everyday essay that an admissions reviewer is going to see.
my cultural essay is about how i am russian and how my family constantly tries to keep its russian heritage but living in america is a constant struggle to keep our roots strong.

I am also starting to freak out a little because I stated that I was going to go into business, and since thats a competitive major, I'm worried that my chances are going to get worse.

I took alot of time on this application, and UW is definitely my first choice. help a man out with some supportive commentary please.

I truly wouldn’t worry, I had pretty much similar stats to you coming in last year, but a little higher GPA with quite a few less AP classes. Plus I applied SUPER early and heard back SUPER late so don’t let that factor into mind f****** yourself.

I am pretty sure you will get in! What my friends and I have been noticing is that the people with the higher GPAs get in earlier. Each week or so, another one of my friends recieves an acceptance, and each week the person has a lower GPA. We assume the admission people get the high GPA people out of the way, and now they will begin admitting people like you, who took a CRAP load of AP classes and have good test scores. Besides, your extra curriculars sound excellent! Don’t worry. You have a great shot!

Doubt it. I have 3.88 unweighted with 6APs and submitted Dec 1st, it’s been 5 weeks and haven’t even gotten an initial review…plus I’m IS.

oh well…just sit back and relax, I don’t think they sort out the apps by GPA or anything. I agree that you have a decent shot, given the average stats and the pretty good ECs.

When does UW typically send out admissions notification? For Fall 2010, apparently the notification period is June-July but does the school send out earlier than that?

^^ June/July seems pretty late for admissions decision notification… I think that’s the latest that waitlisted students will be able to find out whether they’re in or not.

I know that they start to review applications on a rolling basis and send out decisions from as early as late November/early December. But a vast majority of the applicants find out about their decision around March.
