Getting from Berkeley to Stanfod

Hi all-

I have an interview in Stanford (on the campus) on Wednesday. How do I get there from Cal? I'm a Cal student, but my interview is down there.

Thanks a lot.

Yeah, I meant with public transportation…don’t have a car.

Bart to Milbrae
Then Caltrain to I forgot which station, but there are some shuttles to Stanford IIRC…

The easiest way is to rent a car. Getting to Stanford via public transit is a huge pain in the ass.

How long a drive is it? Maybe I could ask a friend, or pay a taxi…

driving takes me ~40 min without traffic + driving @ 75 mph. With traffic takes me between 1 hour to 2 hours.

I’d recommend against driving during weekday rush hour. 880 is very slow thru Oakland and also near Fremont. Highway 101 is also very slow around SF and along the peninsula. Also all bridges are clogged westbound during the morning and congested eastbound during the evening. If you really want to drive find someone else so you can use carpool lanes and cross the bridges for free.

An alternative:
Public transit to Stanford is actually very easy for me. I figured out that the fastest route is to take BART to the Powell St Station, then catch the MUNI #30 or #45 to the Caltrain depot. From there you take one of the baby bullet trains that gets you to downtown Palo Alto. Once @ Palo Alto, Stanford’s Marguerite shuttles take you anywhere on campus for free.

^ This route is really fast only during weekday rush hours. MUNI buses come every minute and caltrain has lots of express trains.

Good luck man. What is it for?
