getting in + AP scores

Hmm, so my AP scores were kind of mediocre.

calc ab - 3
ush - 3 (was expecting at least a 4...)
us govt - 3 (thought i was a lock for a 5... but i'll get over it...maybe... is there a rescore service?! hah)

yeah, so I already had them sent to USC.

Will this affect me in any way during the application process?
Especially since I got A's in those classes... will it cut down the value of those A's? Stupid stupid exams...

On another note, I'm also applying to UCLA. Now, I have competitive stats (minus those AP scores) but I want to go to USC waaaay more. I'm out-of-state, so UCLA would be harder for me to get into, right? So should I just not waste my time with UCLA? Assuming it would be easier for an out-of-stater like me to get into USC anyways...

Thanks in advance for any input.

i was an out of state transfer. i got rejected from ucla but then my states weren't too excellent (gpa 3.55).

i think your chance as an out of state is better with usc by far.

your ap scores won't really matter. give usc a shot.

I think that your essays, ECs, GPA and SAT count more than your APs. I think they are happy that you took them - at least you challenged yourself. My son got all 3s and only 1 4 on his APs and every time he met with someone at USC they didn't seem concerned about those scores at all. Only when you are accepted do higher than 3s sometimes get you out of some classes.

The UC system is obsessed with scores. Good SATs, GPA and APs, batta-bing batta-boom you're in (if you're from California). I'm assuming out-ouf-state they look at the same thing, only expect you to be the a human computer. Go for USC--the prices are about the same for an out-of-state, but USC treats you less like a head of cattle.

Sorry to anyone who goes to UC! I'm more than slightly prejudiced (Go Trojans!)

Thanks for the input everyone.

USC is my first choice by far... if I had it my way I'd only apply to USC... but then that wouldn't be very safe would it?

maybe one or two more safeties just in case
