Getting in OOS

I'm in Hawaii and just sent in my online app to Indiana University (Kelley School of Business). My counselor is working on her signature form. I have a 1380/2040 SAT score and straight As through all of high school except for a B in art second quarter of this senior year. I'm hoping for direct admit and possibly a scholarship of some sort (though I missed the priority deadline, I know).

So here's my question. Since I'm out of state and applying sort of late in the game, do you think it's worth it to mail in an essay as well? Or they won't even really bother to read it? Ditto for teacher recs. My teacher and counselor wrote recommendations for my top choice schools months ago for EA, so I could ask them to print out new copies and send to IU, but should I even bother? I just don't know what the acceptance rate is for out of state.

bah, I applied around this time last year, similar stats, no essays, no recs, and I got in just fine. I don't really know if they'll bother reading the recs and essays anyway. I don't see why you wouldn't be a direct admit, from the information you provided.

I would think yes on the admit, but no on the scholarship because you missed the deadline. I don't think it will be necessary, but if you have the time send in the recs and essays. It can't hurt. IU's had lots of applicants this year so far.

Yeah, that's what I heard - tons and tons of applicants. As you say, it can't hurt to send in the supplemental stuff.

Thanks for the input!

Admission to Kelley is guaranteed if you have a 29 ACT/3.5 GPA from what I understand. As for scholarships, I really don't know. I missed the priority deadline too (OOS) and I applied 3 days ago, and am hoping for some money. I have very similar stats to yours, but not as good of a GPA. I think you also have an edge since you are a female in a male-dominant major.

this may be a stupid question, but when was this deadline you're all talking about??
