Getting in!?!?!?!

How do I stand out from all those other applicants with tons of leadership roles and awards. When I don't have any. I know making my essay great is a start. But, does anyone have any other suggestions?

bump................................

anyone plz..............................................

... get some leadership and awards. easy as that

I can't becuase its my junior year and all leadership positions have been taking and I intend to apply ED next year. And I most likely wouldn't be able to get a leadership role for lack of popularity. And what kind of awards could I possible get?

Hey I felt the same way last year and then I decided to run for ASB in the spring of junior year. NOw at least I hold one student gov. office. You should do the same

I can't because at my school you have to be in student counicol to do that. does anyone have any suggestions to mask my lack of leadership and awards?

anyone............................

what schools would you guys recommend that I apply to with no leadership and awards, but with good SATs, GPA, recs, essay. And medicocre EC's?

Try honors colleges within state universities. They look at scores more than ECs.

Create your own club... something you're interested in. Advertise for it and get other people to join... Then you can be president if you'd like

I don't think you would be all out of your chances if you don't have any "leadership positions" in ECs. It would be great if you did, but if you showed commitment within the current ECs that you have (i.e. 4 yrs of this, and 3 yrs of that...etc), that is just as good as a leadership position. I know from my own experience that in some places, it's hard to hold a leadership position. This year, I ran for vp, but hey, lost by 6 votes...and this was in a club with over 120 members. But, since I have been with that specific club for all of my four years, I am confident that the adcoms will not mind me not being a leader of that club. Take your chances with a couple of online scholarships/awards off of www.fastweb.com. Try to volunteer. Try to help out in your church, or any other aspect of your community. Involvement is what they're looking for, not that you decided to run for office. Take some classes at a community college in a separate area. I don't think not having any leadership and awards will be break your application altogether.

Thanks for the great advice jediknight. If you don't mind can I ask what colleges you will be applying to and what your stats are?

Sure, but my stats aren't really great. I have a post set up already. You can check that out: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=2443.
