I am applying to NMH And i am so freaked out about getting in... I have a countdown on my wall to March 10th!!

My SSAT was at 89%- i had 752 in reading, 730 in verbal (or whatever it is called) and 701 in math. I have A-/B+ and i think that my recomandations were good. My essay was probably the best part of my applicaton, but I had a horrible interview. When they had my mom come in for her interview, she said that they thought that i was failing... Ugh!

Another thing is that i applied last year and got in, but didnt get financial aid. So, tell me your thoughts on my chances

Can you be more specific about your interview? What do you feel went wrong? What do you mean when you say that your mom said they thought you were failing?
Your stat’s look great. Send the interviewer a card or note thanking him/her and you could even say you are sorry that the interview did not go as well as you would have liked.
If you got in last year but without fa, chances are you will be admitted this year as long as your stats are similar.
Do you have any ec’s/sports?

At my school we have a different way of grading. We have full credit (B-), advanced credit (A-) and mastery credit (A+). In two of my classes at the time i had Full Credit and i told her that, but apparently she thought that full credit was like a D, and tha is why they thought i was failing,.

I play softball
I play electric bass
I am in an african dance company
I am in PeaceJam
I am organizing a walk to help tibetan children coming to india.
…

NMH should be quite interested in your leadership/community service activities. And, they have a great jazz ensemble (my older son was keyboard when he attended). If you go to the NMH homepage, there is a story about the Jazz Ensemble and a competition they just won. I hope you told them you play electric bass; when my younger son was interviewing, he told them he had just begun playing the guitar and they asked if he would be willing to learn bass…guess they needed a bass player. He has not done that…he is heavily involved in athletics right now.
Again, I would contact the interviewer, by telephone even. But, please do send a handwritten (NOT e-mail) thank you note to your interviewer ASAP! NMH faculty and staff, as a whole, are extremely approachable and caring. You should not be at all intimidated to call and speak more with your interviewer. You could “set things straight” and paint yourself in a better light. If you were my child, I would strongly encourage (read: force) you to do this. It could make all the difference. Your school should have sent a profile to NMH, along with your transcripts, which described their grading system, so your discussion with the interviewer would not have been the only source for your grades.
Again, I believe that if you applied last year and were admitted, you do stand a strong chance of getting in this year. (The same thing happened to my son the previous year). Second try, he got in with the fa he needed.
Make sure you contact them…today!
