Hi everyone I am currently a freshman in high school and I am finally catching on and adjusting to it! An important thing I would like to be informed on is scholarships. What are the big well known scholarships? What do I do to increase my chances of getting a scholarship? When should I start applying for scholarships? Thank you!
The best scholarships come directly from the colleges.

You can start applying end of Junior year, beginning of Senior year.
You are a freshman, for the best merit scholarships, get as high grades as you can from the most rigorous courses for each grade, the highest test scores you can, and be involved in extracurriculars that you enjoy and mean a lot to you.
It’s way to soon for you to start focusing on individual scholarships, but in any case, it’s kind of silly to expect posters here to do all your research for you. When the time comes, there are books at your public library and websites that list scholarships. Your guidance office will also have a lot of material, particularly with respect to local opportunities. And, as noted above, unless you are a national superstar–time will tell–the largest ones come from the colleges themselves. Best of luck in your high school career.
Okay thank you:) and yes I will try to utilize all my resources but I was just asking for information on the main scholarships to get an idea of them but will also be doing my own reasearch as well.
Biancaaa - if you provide vague information you are going to get a general response.
Are you an underrepresented minority? Are you poor? How much do your parents earn?
Yes I now realize that haha:) However I am not going to give out that information so I will no longer ask questions that require me to give that information but thank you!
Questbridge and Gates Millenium - if you qualify
