Getting interviewed by alumni means anything?

Well S got one from MIT (got deferred from EA), two weeks ago from Yale (RD application) and today from Cornell (RD). Does that mean anything? or everyone gets that. He says mom everyone gets those not a biggie.
Just curious!

He is right.

Not trying to sound harsh at all but I Wonder if they at least go through the applications at all to see if some applicants are not candidates for admission. Seems like such a waste of time and energy to interview someone that they have no intentions of accepting.

Cornell tries to offer alumni meetings to everyone (if alumni live in that area). Definitely means nothing about the strength of the applicant.

It is more of a reflection of how many alumni who do interviews live in the area than anything else. It means nothing in terms of admission chances.
