Getting into a sorority if I'm not from the south

I am currently researching colleges and it seems like Greek life is a big deal at some.If I went to a school like Ole Miss,Elon,or U Alabama how hard would it be to get into a sorority?i am from New England and it seems like most people who get bids are legacies and are from other states in the south. No one in my family has ever been in a sorority, would I even have a chance at getting into a sorority?

If you have a high GPA, significant volunteer hours, and are friendly and well-groomed, you have a good chance of a successful recruitment at Ole Miss, Elon, or UA even if you are out-of-state and not a legacy. You would want to get recs from any Greek women you know (they do not have to be alumnae of the university you eventually attend) and not get your heart set on being in a particular sorority. Check out greek chat, sorority101, and sorority sugar as well as the Panhellenic or Greek Life websites for the schools to which you apply.
