How much would a bad gpa (3.0-3.3) and average class rank affect my chances at a sorority at UC Davis? Thanks

that’s not bad at all for sorority standards… but it will probably be much lower after your first quarter of joining one.

Coffee2011: Your GPA isn’t as ‘bad’ as you make it out to be, but know that you may not receive as many invites back to sorority houses during the second and third days of recruitment if your GPA happens to be among the lower GPAs in the pool of girls participating in fall recruitment. On the first day, it’s difficult to remember the faces and names of every single potential new member (PNM) out of 300-400 PNMs, so ‘cuts’ that houses make to the number of girls they invite back the second day can be attributed to hard factors such as GPA.

As far as what thecutiedisease says, the sororities are UC Davis hold their members to a high academic standard and most have average GPAs above 3.3. Additionally, Panhellenic sororities have weekly study hours that their members are required to complete as well as extensive collections of test/study files. Most sororities also set you up with an academic mentor/tutor in the sorority who has the same major as you. Thus, with the right time management skills and attention to your studies, your GPA after joining a sorority should be just fine.

I wish you the best of luck in recruitment this fall! Please let me know if you have any other questions.
