I am a Class of 2006 student from Asian ethnicities. I attend a high school in the Los Angeles County that is currently ranked in the top 100 in the nation. I was not born here and have not gotten the best marks on my grades. That was evident especially in my sophomore year, when I had to confront a lot of personal family issues. I have just completed junior year and look forward to my senior year. I am looking forward to applying to all of the UCs and more and I just wanted to know: What are my chances of getting into each school? (Percentages or whatnot) What school are safes and what are reaches? Thanks!

UCLA
UC San Diego
UC Irvine
UC Santa Barbara
UC Davis

Apply to all of the UCs..... you should get into 1 of them.....your SAT score is top notch

TIPS

Make sure you pass Biology class and your last year of English with a C or higher...... those are big grades because they are UC "a-g" course required....

suze, Berkeley or UCLA could own anything the east coast has to offer. oh yeah, i'm a harvard shoe-in with my nice 2.5, rounded off nicely with a C in Culinary Arts

You might be able to get into ucsc/ucr/ucm... a personal challenge will help you, but being asian and going to a top 100 school won't. Neither will not being born here (I think).. I know a LOT of people who weren't born in the US. Are you from a low income family? First generation college student?
A couple of your classes in your sophomore year don't count (PE, computers) so that might bring down your GPA. Also, that D in chemistry looks mighty threatining. What's your weighted UC GPA (sophomore and junoir year only)? If it's below a 3.0, I don't even think you can apply.

It's going to be problematic for you, because UCs are very numbers-oriented, and the GPA is not so good (what's your UC GPA specifically? - the weighing on that is quite liberal), however depending on your school, this might be enough to get in for UC Santa Cruz, UC Riverside, and UC Merced - I think, for instance, people from my prominent public school in the CA bay area with comparable GPAs do manage... A lot of it depends, though... Ask the GC at your school if there are charts/stats on students from your school and UC admits.

Your SAT score is pretty good - but I really don't think it's enough to get you into UCB or UCLA (or USC) because... If you don't mind my saying so, the extracurriculurs are sorta blah and don't seem to have much focus anywhere, unless you have something strong to write an essay about...

I am, of course, only another junior who knows mainly from the experiences of this year and last year's seniors, the GC's appraisal of my less-than-stellar-stats and chances, and the aforementioned book of stats/charts... Good luck.

Berkeley and Los Angeles admitted students usually have their average GPA's at and around 4.15-4.25. In general, if you can't even manage a 4.00 weighted than it doesn't even matter what your SAT scores are, you won't get in. Standards may be lower for athletes, but there aren't many athletes out there good enough for exceptions, anyhow. Even disadvantaged applicants don't get a break, because these applicants will usually come from the identified disadvantaged schools where the competition is weaker and they'd manage a high GPA there too. Maybe 1, even 2 is a strech, C's and Berkeley and LA will forgive, but 3 C's and a D(!), no way no way no way no way....
