So, I'm a junior & becoming a senior in like 3 days...
But I've been wondering about the colleges that I'm planning to apply for. The colleges I've been thinking about are Boston University, UC Irvine, UCLA, San Diego State University, Stanford Universty, & Johns Hopkins Universty.

My SATs are arund 1200 to 1400 out of 2400...
I rank 19 out of 87 juniors... maybe..
Sports played were rifle-team, track & field... maybe baseball for senior year..
I am in Beta Club, Anime Club, National Honor Society etc.
My grades are listed as...

Sophmore:
Algebra II --> B
LET II --> B
English 10 --> A
World History --> A
Biology --> A
Journalism --> B

Junior:
Precalculus --> B
LET III --> A
Economics --> A
English 11 --> A
US History --> A
AP Biology --> B,C
Spanish 1 --> A

Senior: to be determined...
Calculus/AP Calculus -->
AP Englsih -->
AP Psychology -->
Music-Tech -->
Civics -->
LET IIII -->

Your grades and extra-cirriculars seem good, but that SAT...1200/2400? Did you draw on the test with crayons? Get that up and then see where you have a chance. It's extremely important and colleges won't ignore it. Those are very ambitious colleges.

1200/2400? isn't it 1200/1600...?, hopefully...^^

yougotojohn..

Well, I score very low in writing & reading sections. I've tried studying vocabulary & writing skills, but I just don't understand why I keep scoring really low. My math is like around 500s, so it's average, but I want it to be around 650... sigh

flglxpstbxkdls...

I took the new SATs & it is out of 2400...

You need to work your a$$ off to improve that SAT score.

You would get into a pretty good school but with a 1200...have fun with that.

With that SAT those schools you listed are all reaches. I think you should try taking the ACT, you might score higher.

try taking the ACT -- many students who completely bomb the SAT do much better on the ACT. It is a different type of test. Your grades seem solid -- but the poor test scores are going to keep you out of any decent schools. The ACT might be the answer.

Well, my sister nagged to me about the UCs will not accept ACT and I don't even know if that is true or not...

I heard that the ACTs are more general about subjects that includes math, english, physics, science etc.

Yeah. If you want to even THINK of getting into any of those colleges, I suggest you get at LEAST 2000 combined.

Oh contraire, I got into UCLA with the ACT. They will accept it but only if you take it with the writing portion. You should definitely take the ACT, it's a completely different test than the SAT and chances are that you'll do much better.
