Getting into college

I am currently a rising sophomore in high school and my dream is to go to the university of North Carolina at chapel hill but I don't know where to begin. I would be an in-state student there and as of currently my GPA is 4.1 due to honors courses that I've taken. So far I have made a's and b's and I'm a pretty smart student.i am an all star cheerleader and I was a varsity cheerleader my freshman year. I've signed up for only 2 AP classes so far for my high school years and a student government course.I've also signed up for and have taken marketing classes to help with the major I want to pursue in business administration and management, but I know this still isn't enough.I just want to know how to get into college. Like what are things that would boost my chances of getting in to a prestiges school like this?

1) Have good ECs you are passionate about. Remain heavily involved in them and show commitment.
2) Write good essays and start thinking about teachers that know you well for letters of recommendation. (You’re still very early, but think of moments in your life that really show who you are or tell “your story”
3) Take a rigorous coursleoad without overextending yourself. Your current courseload is fine. I didn’t take any APs until junior year, so that is very impressive.
4) Remain true to who you are. I’ve seen many people do things “to get into college” and then quit once they got accepted. Your activities should be about you, college shouldn’t be the end goal

Basically you are in a great shape so far. UNC Chapel Hill is a great goal. Look into what you might be interested in studying. You can use Naviance to compare yourself to past applicants and take personality tests to see what type of career might fit you. Good luck!

You are doing fine. Keep up the grades! Make sure you do well in the AP courses…it will take more work than usual.
