Getting into Emerson writing 4 film/TV?

4.18 ( I think, weighted) 3.45 uw. IB (with many APs in pre IB, 5 on AP Euro exam, 4 AP Art History)
currently a junior, only took ACT as practice: 30 (w/o writing, which should bring it up) taking SAT in Jan

EC: Community theater senior company, bass player in local well known band, English Honor Society, that is pretty much it, IB does not leave much room for a lot else.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Ewwwww I hate hearing about other applicants applying for the same major as me…

It looks like you got a lot of good “stuff”.So the best way to put this is…I hope you get in only if I get in…

Actually…it seems like you’re applying RD so what I really meant to say is good luck!

LOL Oh boy I’m applying for the same major as well, I was hoping you guys could tell me my chances as well

GPA: 3.5/4.5 (yes my school is pretty odd) but that’s 3.1/4 I believe

SAT
Reading: 610
Math: 690
Writing: 620

I just find that to be ridiculously ironic, but oh well LOL

AP Euro: 5
AP US: 4
AP Statistics: 3

I barely have any extra curriculars
but I have a boat load of religious community service work

First quarter was sorta fuzzy I had AP Calc which I was failing, and so I dropped, and they converted my grade to a D, which isn’t all that great, and my senioritis caught me in my English Class which I got a D for as well.

Otherwise I have B’s in my other two AP classes, and I have A’s for video production and radio.

What might set me off is that I’m considered as an “international” student, I know plenty of friends that have the same loophole as I do and they said it helped getting them accepted, but they couldn’t get financial aid which was killer.

but that’s really my situation right now, It’s my top choice and I really hope I can get in through and through, and I wish you guys the best of luck as well!

Looks like you have a great chance… I really don’t have the best SAT scores so I’m hoping my ECirrix and essay make up for it…did you apply early?

Yep! I did! :D

25 days yeeep

Hey dude, this is kinda late, but I just got into Emerson for the same program.

My weighted GPA was 3.61 (which is not great, my high school is really competitive and I can be lazy).

I DID have a pretty good ACT (31) and I scored a 12 on the writing section.

I also got a 5 on the AP English exam and my ECs are pretty good (Varsity fencer, head programmer of our school’s radio station, and a job as a swim instructor).

So, to the junior who posted his/her stats: You seem to have a fairly high GPA and, if you get a good ACT, I’d say your chances are pretty good.

I worked my ass off on my essays, so those combined with my ACT are what I believe got me accepted. I also applied early, so as long as you have a strong application, I’d say you have a shot.

To the other dude, you’re my age so if you applied early, you already know. I hope you get in, it sounds like you were in good shape.

@winnie I was just accepted for Studio TV and I have similar stats (including IB program), so I’d say you probably have a good chance!

Hey… i was just looking at posts on Emerson and you wrote on there that you got accepted…im just wondering if you have to submit like a script or portfolio or something along those lines for that specific major. I looked on the website and they said that only for “Film” but I’m not sure if that includes “Writing for Film and Television” or not. If you could let me know, ASAP, that’d be great! Thank you!

@DantexXx For the film production major, you HAVE to turn in either the short film or the script requirement with your application. If you are applying for Writing for Film and Television, then you do not - you only need to specify that on your application.

@JLR123 Oh alright, thanks!
