ok so i am a sophomore at BBN, and i realize it might be a bit early to be starting to stress about colleges but i can't help it, because it occurred to me the other day that the entire purpose of my time at BBN was not to learn but to get a fat envelope from the places i want to (which in itself is kinda sad but i will get over it if i do get that envelope).

How can i better my chances of getting into Georgetown SFS? The more i read about/hear about/am told about by students there, the more i want to go. I want to do an area studies major for Russia and Eastern Europe. Again i know this is really early and probably worse for my mental health than it is good for my college application, but it would just be nice to hear the highschool profiles of a few G-town students and what helped/didn't. thanks

I'm going through the same thing. Sophmore year, just realized what the point of high school is ... sigh. I checked out ****************.com :P They have a lot of applicants and it doesnt look so good for me... heh

what's BBN? is it like a really prestigious high school?

and I obviously can't speak for the admissions as a whole, but in my particular case, (I got into SFS early without stellar test scores), I'd say it was the fact that I put a lot of time into learning three languages to proficiency (Chinese, German, and French). The safest bet would probably be to build up a profile with which you can most effectively market yourself as a "Passionate Global Citizen" (languages, community service, etc). SFS seems to really like that stuff.

Not that any other college wouldn't... but SFS probably will give you more credit for languages than other colleges would

yeah, i take two languages already, and am really trying to become proficient in them, not just pass the course. BB&N is a really prestigious school (god i sounds like such an ass, please don't hold it against me) and they do really well ususally on college placement. They are one of the best schools in MA (ranked 3rd by some important magazine or such), and i was lucky enough to scrap in there applying a week before school started. i had a pretty killer interview which i think was pretty clutch in getting admitted
