I've seen really good feedback for other people, so hopefully you guys will help me in the same way. Thanks so much!

Your chances are as good as anybody's. You have very good stats.
You seem to be good at Spanish, so maybe you should take the SAT II to show that you're fluent in two foreign languages. That'd be pretty impressive.

what race, gender, and what state?

Harvard rejects over half of 4.0/2400s. As your ECs are fine but not extraordinary, I'd put your chance at considerably below 50%.

Well I think Zagat's post was a little harsh. Your stats are good, of course, but like anonymous said, what race, gender, and state? Because from my home state for example, Harvard accepts 1-2 people a year. I think you should apply and see what happens. No one here can say "for sure yes" or "for sure no"...

Music "levels" aren't that informative. Do send them in a tape and if that's good it'll boost chances.

how do you know your essays or recs will be good?

if you're an asian male from the suburbs of the northeast or cali, you could go either way.

if you are URM, you're in.
if you're from an obscure state (like South Dakota or Wyoming), you're in.

ur chips fall between there depending on race, gender, geography.

then come the essays and interviews. those are underrated on CC. if those suck, ur other stats wont help you.

Also I forgot to mention two other clubs:

American Red Cross (3 years)
10th: Helped organize community service projects
11th: Secretary

Future Meds (2 years)
11th: Vice President

I'm a Chinese female from California...I know, that doesn't help at all...but does the "female" part help any little bit?

What's an URM?

Thanks so much you guys! I was quite worried that I might get one of those REALLY harsh replies, but I didn't so I'm really glad.

Thanks!

urm= under represented minority. aka, hispanic, native american, african american.

i say it all depends on your essays. just develop a more complete list of schools you really like, not just "Harvard, Cornell, Yale, MIT, or other top schools." no offense, youre an amazing person with plenty of accomplishments but that list seems a little half assed.
good luck! have you visited the schools yet? you probably should before you apply.

There are more qualified female applicants than males....

it changes. if you apply to MIT, a female has an advantage. princeton's class of 2009 is only 45% female, so you may be favored here for 2010, but idk.

You are obviously a very good student but you don't particularly stand out from many of the other people who have asked about their chances on College Confidential. Do you have an interesting family story? Do you have any unusual/unique hobbies like...gem hunting? What makes you stand out?

Also think about good safeties.

"how do you know your essays or recs will be good?"

She got an 800 on Writing, so she can probably write pretty well. She has a 4.0, so most of her teachers probably like her as long as she participates. Of course there's no way to tell exactly how they will turn out, but what do you expect her to say, "my essays and recs should suck pretty bad"?

75% probability of admission to Harvard, 96% to MIT, 90% to Yale, 99.998% to Cornell

... and make sure to emphasize fencing on your application; you shouldn't take sat2 spanish - curve is hurt by native speakers and you have three 800's already.

90% to Yale? 75% to Harvard? are you joking?

as an asian from cali, her probabilities are not that high. probably more like 40% HYP, plus or minus depending on essays/interviews.

Yeah your percentages are ridiculously high for an asian from Cali...

she has a 2400 (approximately half of these applicants get into H) plus 3 800 SAT 2's + well above average EC's (esp. fencing @ the national level).

Cornell is a definite safety - I've known people that are FAR less qualified that got in.

From the people I've known to apply to Yale, high scorers tend to get in fairly easily. My brother had a 1600 and got in with no interview.
