How hard is it to get HYP with only a 31 ACT. I have a 4.0 gpa, but I don't go to an ivy-feeding high school...

Google “Common Data Set” for Harvard, Yale and Princeton. Somewhere around page 8 or 9 of each report, you will find HYP’s 25th and 75th percentile scores.

A 31 ACT is about the 25th percentile. That means that 75% of accepted students had a score of 31 or BETTER. You can do an average of the 25th and 75th percentile to find the 50th percentile – which is around a 33 or 34. I imagine accepted students who had a 31 ACT also had lots of other stuff going on for them besides a 4.0 GPA – stellar recommendations, thought provoking essays, extracurricular activities that showed incredible passion demonstrated by the applicant having won regional or national medals or awards. It’s not impossible, but it’s more of a long-shot.

You also have to be aware that the accepted students with ACT of 31 may include some “hooked” students, such as recruited athletes.

My October ACT is a 33 :)
