Ok so I heard they don't count freshman year of high school. Which I need because I had a 1.39 gpa freshman year but 4.0 since then. I have scored a 30 on my act. I think 31 in English, 32 in reading, 28 in math and 29 in science. I want to attend med school. I have 2 years of youth in gov and 2 years of volunteer work at my local hospital. First is the thing about not counting freshman year true? If so could I get in? If not what's some other schools that don't count freshman year? What are they and would I get in? I really want to go to california but will go anywhere......at least anywhere that's prestigious enough to get accepted to a med school.

It is not the prestige of a school that gets you into medical school, it is what you do there as an undergraduate. A 30 ACT would make Johns Hopkins a reach.

I don’t know about John Hopkins specifically, but I do know that colleges in general have a spot on the application where you can explain why you got poor grades at a certain point in high school. If something really bad happened that messed up your grades, then colleges will understand that. Also, they really like to see improvement in grades.

^ John Hopkins? You must be from Pittburgh.
