getting into MIT

@agalagalaga i agree with u!

nimbooda14- is your school really competitive cuz mine is and theres kids who take like 20 ap exams and self-study half of them. theres this junior who took calc bc in 8th grade…im taking calculus ab in 9th but so are two other freshmen. people can practically walk out of my high school with a bachelors degree in math.

As a Freshman, plan out your classes for your entire 4 years. Take as demanding a load as you can.

Then, think about your EC’s. What clubs and community service do you want to do. And start doing it.

Join your HS’s robotics team. If your HS doesn’t have a Robtics team, then start one:
[Welcome to the FIRST Robotics Competition | USFIRST.org](http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/frc)

Better to get involved in a few things, and do them well. Avoid being a mile wide and an inch deep. As a freshmen, you have time to explore, but start focusing by your Sophmore year.

@agalagala well yes but not as competitive as urs!..but im also planning on doing a few APs on my own so i can get as much as possible…

@operadad thank you for replying and i have planned out my course load…hopefully i will end up taking about 14 APS and 2 IB courses…im definitely gonna get atleast 200 hours of community service this summer…and i was thinkin on what club to start and now that u have given me the idea…i think i should start a robotics club!! thanks a lot for ur tips and please give me more advice if possible :)

Feel free to make any kind of threads that you wish. This is an excellent one

This is like a mini lottery. If you do things perfectly you will get 2 tickets instead of 1 for MIT lottery.

Still worth doing, but make sure you pick a nice range of good schools when the time comes.

Read the MIT admission blogs by MIT chris. To paraphrase , study hard, be kind to other people and follow your passions.

People tend to do best in things that they love. I think that it is very important to follow a curriculum tapered to your interests. I think that your ecs should be things that you would enjoy even if you were not planning to go to college. Of course excellent grades will always help as will good standardized test SAT ACT s I agree about focusing the ecs. If you like debate some people say it is Also good choice. Very time consuming.
