Getting into Northwestern again?

Hi all,

I am a first-year at a women’s college (won’t say which one for privacy) and I really regret my college decision. I was accepted to Northwestern University regular decision in April 2019, but out of teenage rebellion, I denied that offer in favor of going 1000mi away from home versus the 10mi away that Northwestern is. If I’ve maintained my profile to the same level of rigor in college that I had in high school thus far (all A’s, two jobs, editor for my school paper, writing nominated for prizes, etc.) would I get accepted if I applied again as a transfer student? I called the transfer admissions office, and they said they still have everything on file, including the decision they made with my application the first time around. Of course I would put the same amount of effort in my application this time around, writing a new Common App and “Why Northwestern?” essay. I just really don’t want to stay at my current school for more than a year; I am frustrated with the lack of resources and opportunities for students that I know Northwestern has.

Thanks,
A potential transfer feeling a lot of anguish and regret

@transfer39347 Don’t start your application with the feeling of regret. Concentrate on the positives. Read fully all the requirements published on the Northwestern website, they have a lot of explanations for transfer students. Make sure you follow everything to the letter… Good luck!
