Getting into NYU Stern with donation?

My friend told me he is "guaranteed" to get into Stern (NYU business school).....Can't really believe it....
Here's his stat:
Elite Private School in NJ: ranked top 3 in NJ
GPA: 3.0 (unweighted, took some APs)
SAT: 1800, SAT II (two 650)
Pay: Full Tuition
Parents: Wallstreet millionaire

Big part is his parents will be donating $700,000 to NYU (1/4 of their income)....

Can 700K really guarantee admission at Stern?

Probably, that’s just the start, NYU is betting they’ll donate more over time.

$700,000 will not get your friend into NYU. Entry to a college through donation usually require more than a million dollars. So don’t believe your friend.

Your friend is in for sure. NYU is broke and will need any penny they can get and more. NYU got robbed big time by Madoff.

Yeah, here’s the thing:
A 3.0/1800 in HS is probably going to result in about a 2.0 at Stern. So all that money might get him in, but it can’t keep him there.

hahaha interesting, I guess it could work

Why don’t the parents just donate to HYPSM or Wharton instead, like $1 million and send their kid there?

If they’re going to make such a hefty donation, might as well aim for the top of the top

My thoughts exactly shuffleace

I think donations would help if the candidate were borderline, but he is clearly below NYU’s standards. However, I still wouldn’t be surprised to see him get admitted, given NYU’s financial troubles.
