Hi everyone! I’m a senior from NJ wondering if i have a good chance of getting accepted to the Rutgers engineering program. I have my strengths and weaknesses. here they are:
GPA: 4.17 weighted
Rank: 8/191
ACT score/ SAT (weak spot): 21 and 1510
My school doesn’t offer AP or IB so I took all honors classes which is the highest they offer.
My transcript consists of all A’s and A pluses from freshman to senior year.
Im involved with NHS, peer mentoring, yearbook, dance lessons and i have also played the piano since i was 5.
I volunteer as an usher for concerts and at my school for key club or NHS.
I’m mostly concerned about my test scores. It’s below the 25th percentile for Rutgers. Do you think everything else will compensate? Thanks
Hm, this is tough. It’s unfortunate that your school does not offer anything higher than honors classes. However, your GPA and Rank are incredible. But, your standardized test scores are extremely low. I’d say you have a 50/50 chance. Best of luck!!
Thank you ! my problem is that I like to take my time on tests and make sure everything is perfect. Sort of an addiction. Haha. So the whole standardized test thing is not for me. Hopefully they’ll look past that. I also forgot to mention I’m first generation born in America. My parents are from Azerbaijan so hopefully they will like My contribution to diversity

I can totally relate…I’m the same exact way and I was not pleased with my SAT/ACT scores. I got into my dream school so I am a full believer that SAT scores aren’t everything, however I do know that Rutgers is very standardized test oriented. & I definitely think that will boost your chances!
