Getting into school

I posted this on dental forum but not getting any answers. Hoping since you guys are so knowledgable someone will know.
Asking for a friend. Does it matter what dental school you get into? Are some better then others? Or like medical school, as long as you get into a school in US it's good. For medical schools there is an MD and DO schooks. It's easier to get into DO schools. Is there something equivalent for dental schools?

Nope. There are DMD and DDS programs but the distinction is a matter of semantics. They are equivalent degrees and have identical admission requirements/standards.

Like med schools, the every dental school teaches a standardized curriculum, their students take same national standardized exams and are eligible for licensure as a general dentist in every state.

The ability to enter advanced specialties depends upon the student’s performance in dental school, LORs from their preceptors and their score on the National Board Dental Exams.

Some dental schools carry more ‘prestige’ than others, some have higher GPAs or DAT scores, some have more bells and whistles or are more research oriented, but they all provide the same basic education.

See SDN’s dental subforum for lots of good information.
