Hi, i'm a freshman in HS aspiring to become a physicist with high hopes of getting into MIT :)
My grades are fine however, my EC's don't reflect my interest (which is something MIT really wants to see). From past admitted students I constantly hear about Science bowls, science Olympiads(in physics of course) as well as doing research in junior or senior year. Problem is it's not really clear how to get involved in these programs and sometimes Google isn't a lot of help. I go to a good high school but I still have no access. I would be grateful on any information on specifically how to find and enter these programs. Thx!

hmm… go into math?
math and physics - try USAPhO qualifying exams. tell ur teacher about it. and go for math. USAMO, AMC, AIME, whatever it is.
most physicists are good at math. it will be a super bonus at MIT.
start a physics club in ur school.
personally, think research is overrated - everyone does it. it’s not really as unique as it used to be. it’s easier to excel in the math contests. try those.
