getting into SFS

I'm a sophomore in high school, and after reading about Georgetown's SFS, I was very interested and feel that it would be my first choice when applying to colleges. Is there anything that I should do, between now and senior year, that would make my application specifically appeal more to the admissions people at SFS? And is SFS extremely difficult to get into and therefore an unrealistic goal?

I’m a sophomore in high school too looking at Georgetown. Not SFS, but Georgetown College.
Anyway, from the research I’ve done on Georgetown University, SFS in particular, they like people who break the mold. Do something spectacular, out of the ordinary for a high school student.
You could create a model UN at your school. If you already have one, become the president and lead the team to victory. Start a community service club or an “International Social Change” club at your school and every month make it “xyz country” awareness month. Distribute flyers, pamphlets. Host seminars. Get involved in the community. Host some fundraisers. Make a goal to raise enough money to sponsor a 2 week or month long trip to a desperate country in need. Or even a country who is in crisis but is not heard about nearly as often.

Something to get you noticed!!
Your essays: could make or break you. Write from the heart and don’t stray down the path of writing what you think they want to hear. The admissions committee knows those tricks.

and of course you know the rest. Keep your gpa high, and get good SAT or ACT scores. Get around 3 subject tests in before senior year. Apply early action if you want.

Article on Georgetown Admissions Deliberations.

SFS is rumored to be the most difficult school to get into out of the 4 Georgetown Undergraduate schools. However all of the schools have around the same admissions rate : 20 %

I believe that for SFS students they are looking for something even more because a lot of people apply here for the opportunities (i.e. being so close to the nations capital could get your foot in the door when it comes to international relations opportunities.)

I would also tell you not to stress, but then I would be a hypocrite because I’ve been severely stressed about college since freshman year and it has only gotten worse.

I’ll wrap this up: I wish you the best of luck.
