<p>Selective colleges having quotas per school would only hurt themselves. Why would they institute a policy where this happens: “Hey Joe, look at the application I read today. This one is a slam dunk. Fantastic on all respects.” “Sorry Erica, you know that we admitted a tennis player from that HS back in December. We have to let that person go”</p>
<p>Does this sound logical?</p>
<p>From my experience, the quality of the individual trumps all factors. My local HS had four admits two years ago to my highly selective alma mater. It was a statistical outlier for sure when they typically have 0-1 admits yearly. The kids were just that GOOD that year.</p>
<p>or perhaps those kids were athlete, legacy, or URM? :p</p>
