I'm in juior year, my mom flipped out last marking period when she found out I got a 60 in math. she said that no suny would accept me with a 60 in a marking period of math (a mp, mind you, not a term). is that true? would a few 75's in math (and freshman biology and italian) automatically mean that i CANNOT get into suny purchase, even though it's an art school, not an academic school?

so, would purchase overlook a few bad grades?

If you're really good in art, they can overlook a "few". But they want students who are going to take class seriously...if you're getting bad grades in biology and Italian as well, that's a problem. But you have time!

You'll be fine as long as you have a good portfolio. If you're going for art, of course. But I would suggest checking out Fashion Institute of Tech, it's a SUNY, so tuition is cheap and it has MUCH better programs. It's more difficult to get in to, but they will def overlook some of those low grades. As long as you have like a 2.5, it's not a big deal for them. I HIGHLY reccomend FIT - it's such a great school. The only major I can think of off the top of my head where they look at your grades is Fashion Merchandising, since it's not so much art, more business. If you're looking into that field, check out Labortory Institute of Merchandising - it's all FM all the time.

Its not marking periods that matter so much, its your transcipt -- but from the way the question is phrased, I suspect that there are issues. There is still some time for some improvement. Identify your poblems -- do you need to study more? Are the classes too hard -- can you be shifted?
