I would like to know how hard is it to get into an Electrical Engineering major? They said to have all technical courses with 3.0 but what is consider to be technical elective? Ive previously failed a physics class but retook it and passed it with A-. Currently trying to get my grades back up to a 3.0 or above....... if i can manage to get myself to 3.0 will i get accepted into the major?

thanks for your input

It all depends on your activity at SBU... You are not placed into a major right away, but you can declare it when you apply.

i know that i need to declare it but the thing is i kinda messed up during my first semester taking 18 credits having a bad grade and currently trying to redeem myself but I am thinking when i declare if they or how hard will it be for them to accept me?

Are you currently a college, or high school student?

I am currently in college.........

It all depends. Since you are taking 18 credits, which is crazy, they will judge you differently then someone who is taking 12 credits. If you do good next semester, you should be fine. Do you do any extra curricular activities?

well im trying hard for next semester to raise it up.....and takin 18 credits is kind of hard for extracurr but i did join SHPE and IEEE just didnt put much contribution in it. Are you in engineering?

I am in ITS which is the undergrad college you will be in. I am in Computer Science. So when are you trying to come to SBU? Spring 2009, or Fall 2009?

Umm............ i think ur mistaken...... I am already a student in SBU, a sophomore...... and I will be in tabler (suite, but very far) during the fall =)

OH.... You could have explained that you were already in SBU, and trying to switch your major.... I thought you were incoming, or a transfer student looking into the SBU program. What is your current major now?

EE's tough to get admitted to, but as long as you have the requirements, then you should be okay. Hate to say it, but posting here isn't going to help you -- just contact CEAS and they'll give you the assistance you need.
