Getting into the top technology firms from Dartmouth?

Hi all!

I am finalizing my college decisions, and I was wondering how Dartmouth stands within the Silicon Valley industry.

I searched all over their Center for Professional Development website, but can’t find any reports.

So my broad question is, how likely is it for me to land an internship and potential post-grad job at the top tech firms in CA? Google, Amazon, Facebook, Uber, (and other smaller firms)

A secondary question is, how is Dartmouth’s reputation among this firms, and how heavily is Dartmouth recruited?

Would anyone happen to know an estimate of how many students from Dartmouth land internships at Google PER YEAR?

My other college option is Georgia Tech, my intended study is CS (prob going for the 4+1 masters in either school). While I would prefer Dartmouth over Georgia Tech holistically, I am worried that Dartmouth may fall short in terms of getting internships and jobs at those tech firms. I know it DOES fall short in the CS program as a whole, but the question is, does Dartmouth’s Ivy prestige allow it to have equivalent or greater opportunities at (like Google) than GATech?

Thanks!

Current Dartmouth student here. While I’m not too familiar with with the Silicon Valley side of Dartmouth, I can tell you that the college is making a huge push to expand the CS and Engineering departments. I just heard today that some Dartmouth alums who are Product Managers at Facebook are coming to talk on campus to certain clubs.

Dartmouth also has a great internship system with the D-Plan, which allows you to take a trimester off to intern at a time when not many other students at different schools are interning as well

Due to sophomore summer, most Dartmouth students do internships both the winter and the summer of their Junior year. The winter internship is great as few other schools have this schedule so there is less competition for those internships at the big tech, financial and consulting firms.

In addition, Dartmouth’s annual Hack Dartmouth event has sponsors/representatives from all the major tech firms. Those tech firms also hold receptions, etc. at other times of the year and actively recruit from Dartmouth.
