Only 8 SEMESTERS of AP/IB/Honors/College are allowed to be counted as weighted. You’ve only listed one grade per year, but assuming that a year counts as 2 semesters, you only get to count 4 TOTAL classes as weighted. The rest count as unweighted.

So let’s say 4 of your A’s count as 5.0 each, 4 of them count as 4.0 each, 7 B’s count as 3.0 each, 4 C’s count as 2.0 each, and the regular A counts for 4.0.

This results in 69, divided by 20 courses, equals 3.45 UC GPA.

What’s your intended major? Keep in mind that the applicant pool in Engineering, for example, is extremely competitive for OOS students. Your SAT I scores will need to be around 2200, or higher, if your GPA is in the lower regions of the applicant pool. The UC’s like getting that OOS tuition, but not at the expense of admitting less than the most qualified applicants. Good luck!

wait, wait, hold up just a minute… thats 8 semesters…so, considering that a college course is 1 whole semester, not two, i can add the grades i got for my 8 college courses as weighted. so thats, A,A,A,A,B,B,C and C. 5+5+5+5+4+4+3+3=34 then I add the other 5 A’s and 5 B’s and 2 C’s. 5(4)+5(3)+2(2)=39 so, 39+34=73 divide that by 20 and i get 3.65…which still kinda sucks. do these schools look at mid year reports??? cuz, im planning on doing 6-7 more college courses for my upcoming semester.

wait, shrinkrap, so, senior year is definitely included in the UC gpa??? i thought it was strictly sopmore and junior year. If senior year is included, then i can relax. Im planning on taking 6-7 more college courses, along with the 4 high school courses offered at my school before i turn in college applications in Jan. and Nov. Oh, the ambiance in Cali. is like that in Florida, yet I dont like the people in florida(no offense to any florida residents). id also like to get away from it all.

Shrinkrap, that’s not true. Only sophomore and junior year grades are counted in UC GPA. In fact, you don’t even send in your senior year grades until after you COMMIT to Berkeley.

You. Still. Haven’t. Addressed. The. Money. All the schools here are expensive. You need to look for one where you might get merit. Look at the 3.0 thread. Maybe you can get merit at one of them.

for money, im gonna do FASA, the CSS profile if required, and numerous scholarships…but, its too early for this, im waiting for june to start filling out the scholarship applications.

and i came to a final decision, the only schools in cali. that im gonna apply for now are gonna be Pomona college and USC. My grades just dont match up to the UC schools.

But you heave to build your list with realistic financial options. It is Not too early to consider looking for merit aid, unless you have a really good chance at a school that meets full need… Pomona might be one of then. And Pomona is WAY more selective the UC’s, but good luck!

guys…and girls…one last question. so, after looking at my stats and chatting for a while, what california schools(since were talking of UC’s) do i have a chance of going to, realistically speaking. But, schools that are ranked fairly high in the biomedical field and somewhere under Top 40 in the nation.

santa clara is number 2 for regional universities(west)…i dont understand. whats the difference between regional universities(west) and national according to US NEWS???

are regional universities inferior to state universities?? does it matter?

Nevermind, nevermind, i just discovered that a regional university is one that its masters degree is the highest degree offered at the institution.
