Getting Into The University of Washington

I’m currently a Junior in High School from New York (out-of-state) who is really passionate about going to the University of Washington. I have a 1290 SAT Score based on the Superscore of two practice tests I have taken, with a 710 on the Reading and Writing Section and a 580 on the Math Section. I plan to take the real SAT twice before I apply, although I think my score may be peaking already. I will also take an ACT at least once to see if I do better on it than the SAT for good measure. My unweighted GPA is around a 3.3/3.4 (86.67) based on my Freshman and Sophomore years, and I’m doing my best to improve it this year. I have not taken any Honors or AP Classes and don’t plan to because they would effectively damage my GPA. I do believe I have very good extracurricular activities and impressive volunteer work, along with great personal experiences which I think I can use to write a really impressive essay. My mom is also an alumni of the school. Any insight on my admission chances? It’s my dream school! Thanks!

Can your family pay full freight being an out of state student?

Yes, tuition costs are no issue thankfully. I do not intend on taking out loans.

UW likes to see depth of involvement in extracurriculars, not lots of different ones. So if you have that it will help, along with a higher GPA.
