Getting into U OF I Urbana Champigan?

I was wondering how hard would it be for me to get into Urbana Champigan? I currently have about a 3.0 GPA and have 24 on my ACT and I live in Illinois. But, I go to a top 5 public High school, which is considered a college prep. So, do you guys think I have a chance with Urbana Champigan, since I live in Chicago?

I plan on going their Undecided.

You would need your ACT to be about 5 points higher, to make UIUC a match. As of present, with your low GPA and ACT, UIUC would probably be a reach.

UIUC: Reach

What’s your problem with UIC undecided?

UIC just seems like a horrible school (No offense), but I really want to go to UIUC. And, I’m about to be a senior, so I might be able to raise my GPA little higher next year. And I will retake the ACT. My friend also got in with a 3.4 and a 25 on the ACT

Did you friend get in? You do need a better GPA to get in there (avg 3.5+).

That’s not true. For DGS the ACT middle 50% is from 25 to 31 and the entire Campus middle 50% is from 27 to 32. So if you can get a 27 or at least a 26 and write killer essays you should have a decent shot. Do not loose hope

If you don’t get into UIUC, you should consider attending UIC (undecided), put your act together there and then transfer to UIUC once you’re ready to declare your major.

Then again, are UI-to-UI transfers favored by UIUC for transfer?

How long would I have to stay at UIC to switch to UIUC? And, will they look at my ACT scores afterwords?
