Getting into UCLA.

I'm a resident in California. I'm currently a Freshman in highschool (Mark Keppel High)... And I've a 3.5 GPA, in the Cross-Country Team, and Track Team. What would I need to do to get into UCLA?

You are a freshman, so enjoy your life.

Take AP/IB classes...as many as you think you can handle & do well in.
Try to get involved w/ some activities that you are passionate about.

And....

Come back in 2 yrs! :)

Haha! I knew I wasn't giving enough info. :(
But I heard that its easier to get into UC schools if you live in CA. Is that true?

definitely easier. freshman doesnt count. Don't worry about it. come back in 2 years like what stambliark said. Don't over do your self with the AP's..dey cap it i think around 8 semesters of honors/ AP's.

OH forgot...ENJOY YOUR LIFE.

"Freshman year doesn't count" - maybe not as a direct admissions factor, but in terms of getting into the classes (the "honors track"), it's very important.

If someone would have told me how important getting into tough classes was back in middle school or even freshman year, it would have saved me a whole lot of grief.

^ renindetroit..i understand what you mean. I meant his GPA does not matter. of course freshman counts in order to get into AP/Honors. im saying dat the GPA has no effect on the admission chances. oh yea..me too, i wish someone told me that middle school and freshman was necessary to get into honors. its all good now

UCLA: Reach (with a 3.5 GPA, anyhow)

flopsy..its kinduh early to tell.

Is a "reach" good?

Ummm... Reach means you're probably not getting in... But anyways, as rExRuN467 said, it's just speculation this early in your high school career. Is that GPA weighted or unweighted?
