Getting into UIUC

Hey, I’m really want to get into UIUC Engineering, but I don’t know if my chances are good with my high school work. I know they are top 10 in a lot of engineering rankings and are high selective for the college of engineering.

I have a 3.7 weighted GPA.

ACT
English- 26
Math-27
Reading- 23
Science- 26
Composite- 26

Honors Classes- Geography, Chemistry, World History
AP Classes- Computer Science (got 4 on AP Test) and Physics 1&2 (Got 3 on both)

EC
Cross Country - 3 years & team took 3rd place in state in 2013
Track & Field - 4 years
Robotics - 2 years
WYSE - 1 year & team took 1st place in state this year
Cycling Club - 2 year
Intramural Basketball- 2 years

Volunteer Hours
100+ hours working around at a temple
couple hours helping school with delivering mulch

I’m going into my senior year of high school and I’m going to take another ACT because I know i can do better than a 26. I going to take some AP classes next year (Stats, Calc BC, Gov, Psychology). Do you think I have a good chance of getting in?

High Reach for UIUC Engineering. Avg UW GPA for UIUC Engineering was 3.9.

UIUC engineering: Aim for 31+ (non-computer)/Reach (computer engineering)

Where is your home state and what is your intended major in engineering? In general, the mid 50 ACT for UIUC engineering is 31-34, and their admission average GPA is 3.9. Your stat is a bit low for them. Particularly, your Math score may be too low for any top engineering schools.

I live by chicago and i don’t know which type of engineering yet. maybe mechanical or electrical.

I’m also thinking about Purdue, Marquette, UIC, and Iowa state. But UIUC is my top choice if I get in

In state helps, but you still need to improve your ACT score significantly.
