Getting into UMass Amherst?

<p>Hi! I applied early action to UMass for the architecture program and was deferred to regular decision. I applied with a weighted gpa of a 3.2 and my SAT was a 1610 or 1050 with just math and reading. i received an email from the architecture dept. a couple says ago saying they "had my portfolio result and it would be considered for admission" which im guessing means my portfolio review was successful. I have also taken a total of 5 ap classes and 5 honors classes throughout high school and i have good extracurriculars. What are my chances?</p>

<p>Your SAT score really pulls you down. If you have great ECs, especially those related to architecture, then you have a great chance in getting in. However, I don’t know what ECs you have, so it is hard for me to accurately give you your chance. </p>

<p>Their letter does not mean your portfolio review was successful. It only means they received it, to stop you from worrying about whether it made it through the mailing system. Again, I have no idea how talented you are, so for now, I would say you have a low chance. ECs and talent could easily allow you to get in, but I have no idea what they are. </p>

<p>For EC’s…I have worked at the same job for 4 years, have 40 hours of volunteer work, have built and designed a solar powered kinetic water fountain for my school’s courtyard, have been cross country captain for 2 years and have been on cross country for 3 years. </p>
