Getting into UMD?

I struggled in my freshman and sophmore year of my high school career because of depression, abscences and lack of motivation(from depression). This had caused me to get a 2.15 in my freshman year and because of that, I have been working harder. In my sophomore year, I would get a 3.0+ every quarter which didn’t help much since it only raised my GPA to a 2.75. I reaserched that a 4.0 will raise your GPA by one point so it is my goal to get straight A’s in my junior year. It is only the first quarter so I haven’t taken a SAT/ACT yet. The classes I take right now are Dance 1, Computer science honors, Chemistry G/T, Modern World History Honors, French 3, Algebra 2 and English 11 Honors. As you can see, I’m not taking a lot of college classes which will definitely change in my senior year since I plan on taking College classes for all the honor classes that I am in and take honors for all of my regular classes. If I get straight A’s in my junior year then my gpa will bump up to a 3.75 and I guess it will bump up to a 4.00+ after my junior year?

If I can’t get into UMD then I plan on going to a Canadian school since I heard that they are more lenient. Such as The University Of British Columbia because they don’t consider SAT/ACT scores unless your GPA is low. Their schools are also less expensive(is this all true?).

Thank you for reading, any help is appreciated!
