I have many ECs (for ex: president, along with 2 more years of board experience, of a service club; treasurer of a cultural organization; member of NHS, a few other clubs, and many more..
I've volunteered 60+ hours each of the past two summers along with volunteering throughout the year at places such as science fairs and parks.
ACT (31) and SAT (1900; I'm taking USH, Chem, and Math II subject tests this weekend, and I plan to take the actual thing again in October) are somewhat average.
My mom is an Associate Professor at the University and both of my parents went to Michigan for their graduate education.

My GPA is low though, 3.6. Granted I took APUSH, AP Chem, and 3 other honors classes this year to go along with 4 honors classes last year. I've taken 3 years of French so far (fascinating language), and I'll be taking French 5AP next year.

I’m guessing you to to either Pioneer or Huron? =P
Better chance at Pioneer- where I go.

ACT score is top 25-30%= good.
GPA is a bit on the low-side, but Michigan recalculates.
4.0= 91-100%
3.0= 81-100%

If you have a lot of B’s, that’s a bad sign XD, but if the A-'s are bringing you down, that’s good.
EC’s are decent? Play any sports or instruments?

Having both of your parents there is a big plus. They can probably hustle you in =P

Your GPA is a bit low, but from what I can remember by looking at a brochure recently it is still in the middle 50% and your ACT score is in the upper of that range as well. If your EC’s are really good and your recalculated GPA is still decent, I think that you have a good chance. Your parents also provide a pretty good hook.

Good Luck! :)

okay, you’re ACT score is like top 3% but its still on the lower side of their middle 50%.
a 3.6 GPA is fine for Michigan, Im sure they like higher GPAs but your EC’s plus association with the University should outweigh that. what you need to do is write a creative admissions essay to impress them and emphasize your talents and I believe you should be fine. Ann Arbor is the toughest state school to get into, so good luck, but if you can really emphasize your talents then you should be fine. go for the interview.
chance back.

Yeah I’m a Junior at Huron. Golf is my main sport, but I also bowl and plan to do cross country next year.
