Getting into University of Edinburgh?

Okay, During high school I didn't really pay much attention to my grades, I thought getting a 'C' was okay, because it was better than a D or F, anyways I'll probably graduate high school with like 2.8 or 3.0 gpa (I still have one more year). I was looking at the UE website, which states that as a minimum you need to have 2 APS with a 4 and 5... which I do- AP english and APUSH, AP World. It also says that you need a minimum SAT of 1800- i have a 2140, They don't really talk about gpa.. but I'm sure they look at it. They also say, if you had one successful year at a university you can also apply.

Anyways, with my horrible gpa... do you think it's best for me to go to community college? Will I still be qualified 'for having a successful year at a university' or should I try getting into a local small college?. UE will cost me a lot of money to go to, so I don't want to have to spend a lot of money for a school I'm later going to transfer out of.
or Should I just apply to UE?

Thank you! any advice would be wonderful!

Btw, I'm AMERICAN... and I want to go to this Scottish University!!

You can try applying to UE and see if you get in. And community colleges typically don’t count as university, I think. You should be able to take two years at a community college (and save a lot of money) and then transfer after.

Part of this depends on how much money you’re willing to spend, I guess.
