Getting into USC as a Transfer

nm, I see it.

applied in jan or feb(right before the deadline) and global bus is in the college of letters and sciences under international relations.

sounds like if you don't get the envelope within the next week, fuhget about it.

you still may have a while to go. maybe the international relations department does theres before everyone else. i believe its a tiny department but who knows.

Here's what I know, all the Frosh hopefulls kept saying "most" would hear by April 1st. Did you hear about any of those April 1st letters being acceptances? No. Why? Because "most" people DON'T get in. We do not want to be on that "most" mailing, you follow?

transferjoe, to which school is the department of political sciences a part of? and do you know how impacted is political science at USC, do you know?

i dont know what department but its part of the college of letters and sciences. political science is usually not impacted and is fairly easy to get into. but expect a decision around everyone else

Students applying for junior transfer will find out much earlier than the students applying for soph transfer, because students applying for soph transfer won't finish the 30 units until the end of the Spring semester. They won't find out until June.

where did you get this info? so if have over 30 units already completed, does that make me a junior? currently i have 48 units completed and 9 units are in progress for the spring semester. should we expect a decision in early may?

It doesn't mean you are a junior, your high school and SAT just don't count. You passed that level a long time ago. I got the thirty units from the "USC Pre-College Counseling Form for Members of the Trojan Family." As I am sure you already know, you don't have to accumulate 64 units in order to be eligible for transfer (I think UC does). You only have to go to school for one year (or 30-32 units). That is USC's benchmark for Fresman applying for sophomore transfer. The thirty units, along with some other requirements gets you a pretty good shot at getting in. The paper says this:

"We consider many factors in making admission decisions, so we can't lay out a guarantee for you today. However, we can say with a high degree of confidence that you will have a very good chance of bieng admitted for the fall 2005 semester if you..." Then it lists the various requirements.

Hope that clarifies things.

Fight On!
