Getting into UVA: What are my chances?

I have a 1860 SAT, and a 4.179 GPA which I am hoping to raise to a 4.2 by the end of this semester.
I have a brother attending UVA currently.
I will be taking the subject SAT's soon, so I will get that taken care of.
I just need someone to help me and tell me what are my chances of getting in!!!! Please answer me.

Give more info like whether your GPA is weighted or unweighted, Extracurriculars, essay, teacher recs, etc.
Also you might be able to do better if you retake the SAT and score around a 2000; or if you give the ACT and get around 30.

what’s the uw gpa? in-state you have an alright chance, oos would be a pretty big reach

Assuming the rest of your application follows suit to whatever you posted, I say that it is a high match/low reach, depending on essays and ECs. Good luck!

Could you please take the time to chance me back? Thanks!

OOS: Reach
In-state: High match/low reach

I am instate, but what do you mean by High match/ Low reach?

Unfortunately I didn’t think the SAT was very colossal towards College. It was only my foolishness that I started late, so I won’t be able to retake it. My weighted GPA with the AP 1 point boost is 4.179 to clarify that. Unweighted I think is 3.8 or 3.9. Extracurriculars, I am in 5 different honor societies, chess club, FBLA, I havevolunteered at a hospital for many months, I am getting a reccomendation from the director of volunteer services from a hospital, and a reccomendation by a doctor.

You should be able to retake the SAT in December - most universities accept scores from the month of their deadline.
That’s the only thing that hurts your application: their average GPA is 4.2, so you’re fine, but about 40% are above 700 in the CR or M test, and another 40% are in the 600-700 range. You’d want to push your scores a bit to reach 1950-2000 and you’d be fine. Note that 2 of your recommendations should be from academic teachers, preferably in one of the 5 core subjects (English, Math, History/Social Science, Foreign Language, Science) or something related to a future subject/activity (for instance, if you want to major in art history, a recommendation from your AP Art History teacher could be good, or if you’re section leader in the orchestra and hope to play in college, the orchestra conductor…)

In-state, it’s a low reach (odds aren’t in your favor, but they’re close to even) if you don’t increase your SAT score, especially since applications are likely to drop due to the scandal (murder + systemic support for rapists + fraternity that had gang rape as an initiation rite.) I already had two advisees drop UVA from consideration and I’m quite sure it’ll be felt in next season’s admission cycle too.

Thank you MYOS1634. Your words are true, and you are not trying to make me feel better, and for that I thank you. SI AM in-state and its a low reach (Odds are not in my favor) only because of the SAT?
The problem is December is when I will take the subject SAT’s so I can’t take the SAT at the same time as the subject. So 1860 SAT(570 Crit 670 Math 620 Writing) is what I am forced to keep.

But I wanted to add some other things I did, and tell me if this will help overlook the bad score I got? I am in Track and Field 3 years now, I am in 5 honor societies, red cross, key club, chess, FBLA, a current officer of a Christian club, I have founded 1 club, and cofounded 2 others. I am a volunteer at a hospital for many months and the director of student volunteers liked me so decided to give me a reccomendation. And I will work on getting academic rec’s from the core subjects.

And I got a brother in UVA currently, so they say there is a thing called “legacy”

You’re asking for a chance based on only GPA and one test score, which makes it very difficult to gauge. Provide some more information. Tell us about your ECs, the APs that you have taken, any awards that you have received, stuff like that. A chance based on your test score and GPA may seem insightful, but will most likely be inaccurate.

I have taken 10 AP classes. Awards I’ve recieved were for a Christian Club I was an officer in, Piano excellence, presidential awards.
