Getting into UW Madison with a GPA below 3.0

On Collegeboard (or some site like that) they had one of those charts where they assign a % to a GPA range for people who got in EX.
3.5+ 78%
3.2-3.49 13%

^^ Like that.
According to that chart, 7 % OF ADMITTED FRESHMAN HAD A HS GPA OF 2.999 OR LOWER.
Who are these students, and why are they so entitled?

As a Division I school and one of the best athletically in the Big Ten, UW lowers its standards for many recruited athletes. This is not to say that all athletes have low stats, as many are pretty bright, but a good number are admitted on athletic achievement and not on academics.

Plus there are people who donate loads of cash, people with connections, etc. The only way i could see getting into madison with a uw gpa of below 3.0, other than having special circumstances like above, is if your weighted was like above a 3.8 (i.e. you took really difficult courses) and you had a phenomenal sat/act.

Athletes, URMs, kids from some ultra tough prep schools and high schools, etc. Or if you have under a 3.1 and over 1400 on the V+M SAT you have a 30% chance.

let me tell you this, athletes are not included in the 7%

All students are included in all the UW data.
