Getting it a good graduate program

I’m currently finishing my undergraduate degree having made the Dean’s List the last three semesters. I struggled in community college(up and down grades) and failed classes my first semester at a my current university. After that semester I applied myself and have been getting 3.5 or better each semester GPA wise. My question is, I’m great at interviews, I’ve had several long term internships in the field I’d like to get into with a graduate degree and have made good grades in junior and senior level classes(junior year and up). I’m planning to really prep for the GRE but I’m curious do I have a shot at the best programs? I’m a Texas resident trying to get in the University of Texas or TCU. The one program that interests me at UT just started this year, so I would be applying for the second year.

I was curious if anyone had tips for me, it would be great for these schools but if you had similar undergraduate experiences and got into graduate school anywhere it would help!

Best,

Ty

Any reason why you restrict yourself to Texas?

Also, what is your discipline?

There should be someone in your department who is in charge of helping students get into grad school. Find out who that person is, and ask them. They really are the experts on this stuff.

Since there is a new program at UT, you need to contact that program directly to find out what they are looking for.

Are you considering doing a masters program or a PhD?
Why are you limiting yourself to Texas?
What is your area of interest?
You said you have done internships in your area of interest, but what about research?

Thanks so much for all the reply! I am going for my masters.
I’d like to stay in Texas because on in state tuition, I also don’t have a ton of knowledge on how getting grants etc work. I would be open to outside Texas if I were to get a great offer! Any advice on the odds of getting some kind of grant or scholarship?
I’m interested in Architecture or Marketing currently.
I haven’t done any research work, any advice on looking into this?

Thanks all!
