Getting keyboard use during a test

If you've gotten the accommodation of using a keyboard, could you share what it was that got you the accommodation?

Thanks.

Applied to the College Board for DD (high school '15/college '19) during May of H.S. freshman year

Specifically asked for use of keyboard during ESSAYS only: Approved for SAT and AP Exams

Documentation:
Educational testing in 2nd, 5th and 9th grade noting poor fine motor skills
IEP in public elementary school allowing her to skip cursive writing, and to use an alpha smart keyboard during classes and a computer for homework

Her private high school allows her to use a laptop in the classroom for notes, and a keyboard for all essays on midterms and finals, based upon her educational testing results.

Needed an occupational therapist to send them a diagnosis. Needed extensive testing that was up to date (within 2 years). The company that did the testing had to advocate for me as well. Had to call up the head person and send in a few writing samples. Was denied a couple of times, but didn’t give up and I provided everything they needed and I have my accomodations now, which are sorely needed.

guidance counselor sent in information- needed a recent assessment of the disability (dysgraphia) and the history that he has had accommodations since 5th grade and a 504 plan
