I don’t know how adcoms will look at a 730 on the math SAT subject test for a SEAS applicant, so you really need to get an 800 on math IIC. (I don’t think there was any need for you to take both math subject tests.) I know you’re retaking the chem SAT, but adcoms will still see the 640, which might be a little suspect for an engineering major. Your GPA, class rank, and SAT I scores are fine.

Frankly speaking, you’re not a stand-out applicant, but your chance isn’t nil either. Your ECs are rather diffuse. But you don’t have to report all those activities (I don’t even remember if there’s that much room on the application); just pick the most important ones. If you can play up the extracurricular environmental and political activism, that would be great.

you’re right, that chem SAT isn’t gonna cut it for BME.
are your EC’s all grade 12 only? if so, that would be very disheartening. and even if the ones that you didn’t label grade 12 were 4 years of dedication, I’m not sure any of those ECs stand out. exception is probably the internship (if you would elaborate on that a bit) and debate which is nice because it’s leadership and shows well-roundedness.

I don’t think your chances are that great, mostly because of good but not great ECs, with great but not amazing stats (and amazing is what you need, whether it is ECs or stats, if you’re asian going to BME)
although ED to SEAS might be helpful.

good that you’re getting a headstart on essays though. good luck

edit:
demeter: I’m not sure if they can see the 640 actually, score choice this year. correct me if I’m wrong about score choice or Columbia’s policies.
I did overlook the fact that it was 730 on Math I. that is definitely low, especially since you shouldn’t take math I anyways and get 800 on math II instead.

Honestly, it’s a bit of a reach. You’re SAT scores are below 2300, which puts you with all of the other applicants. In addition your SAT Subject Test scores aren’t outstanding either, and you’re an Asian.

And forgive me if I’m wrong, but don’t you need SAT II Physics as well for Fu Foundation?

honestly, I don’t think a 2300+ SAT score would put you into another category compared with a 2200+. and especially not compared to a 2280. I think the SAT I score is perfectly fine. probably even the best distribution given that it is a 2280, for SEAS at least.

don’t need SAT physics. they recommend math II and a science.
