First off, I would like to say that most of you here are extremely impressive in your stats and I am in awe hehe. Okay, this is my first post here and by the looks of things, a "chance" is hard to come by here, but I would really appreciate just one opinion. Okay here it goes...

I would like to apply to a number of UCs:
UC Santa Barbara
UC Davis
UC San Diego
UC Berkeley (For the hell of it)
Also, based on my stats I wouldn't call any of these a safety school so any reccomendation would be appreciated. Out of state is fine for these. I don't really want to attend UCs lower than this so plz don't rec those. I thought Oregon would be nice as I like bigger schools with sports programs, but I feel like there standards are below me, IDK)

So While this is not as stellar as basically everyone here, I was wondering what you think my chances with these midlevel UCs.

Ok thanks for the reply. I feel like Santa Barbara was a good match and thought it could be a good choice with the beach, but wasn't sure if I needed a lower safety. The only drawback is no football team, but I guess I could live with that. I actually live about 30 minutes from Berkeley and I would be the 4th generation to go there and my Grandpa was a professor. I don't know if that really helps much and it's clearly a high reach w/o any expectation really.

I would say they are all matches except UCB. However, I wouldn't be surprised if you got in. If you can write a great essay of course... WOO WOO SF!

Is it the sport of football you enjoy? if so I'm sure there are many intercollegiate football clubs and what not at UCSB, but if its the actual presence of a team, then you might just be out of luck

Do you think I really have a shot at UCSD? I thought that was a definite reach, but I would love to get in their... I suppose in-state really does help.

You seem like a humble guy...as a fellow student, I don't want to make rash, invalid assumptions, but I agree with raiderfan regarding which schools are matches and reaches... although I've never heard of a UC "favoring" one particular California region over another ...

And yes, I think you do have a shot at UCSD, it's a slight reach though, I think UCSD's average UC gpa is around 4.02 or something...

Ya, its reassuring to hear that UCSB is at least a match. I just have to figure out pros and cons concerning CCC and transfer to Berkeley or just going 4 years to a University.

so we're pretty close stats wise, ok so only gpa wise, but you've def. got a shot at all, maybe not so much cal though. just write a great essay b/c someone i know got in with a 3.6 uc gpa last year.

If you have your heart set on Berkeley, you don't have a strong idea of what you want to major, and you don't like the other UCs that accept you for frosh year, I'd recommend attending a CCC. You'll save money too. CCC is not a bad option if you're focused and disciplined about your studies and transfer goals.

Good luck!

P.S. Davis has a football team. I personally think it's a great option.

IDK if GATE counts for anything, but Im still listing it. The thing about Davis is that its in the middle of nowhere imho. Just seems like it would be a boring place to attend but IDK. Anyone here have any insight there? Oh and by the way I got my SAT 2s today with a 710 bio and 660 US history. Will these scores help, hurt, or not change my chances.
