Getting off class waitlists? A lot of required classes are full!

What are the chances of me getting off course waitlists? EVERY english 1000 class is full! Same with accounting 2010 and INFO1010. The waitlists are at least 3-8 people.

Tulane must either have a lot of freshman coming in this year or they are cutting back in their budget by offering less sections.

A lot of freshmen. I believe for the second year in a row Tulane was 150 or so students over target.

I don’t know about accounting and INFO, but I was told that there was no urgency to take English 101 in the first semester. There are far more classes in the spring than the fall.

I’m in business and I need that INFO class because it is a prereq for some other core classes. Don’t want to delay my graduation!!!

those business classes (info and accounting) are classes also taken by sophomores, not just freshman…and sophomores were able to sign up for them last spring. I know that it is common for people to get off waitlists the first week of school. I would also send an email to your counselor and see what he/she might recommend you do.

You do not need to take accounting 201, in fact I do not think you can take it until you have sophomore standing. However, most people reach this by second semester of freshmen year because of AP Credit. INFO is excellent to get out of the way first semester, however, it is fine as long as you complete it during freshmen year. Also, it really only matter if you want to get a degree in finance. You are not falling behind, my roommate did not join the business school until the second semester of his sophomore year and is on track to graduate in four years.
