SO....if you're waitlisted for Exeter or any other of the HADES....what chance do you possibly have of moving up to acceptance? Do we take this as "end of story" or is there a remote possibility of good news?

Yes! Exactly my question, but for Deerfield.
Are there more than one or two people who get off waitlist, or is it just not possible and a waste of time and hopefulness?
I really want to ask the admissions office if there’s even a chance, but I think that would be kind of creepy and depressing.

To be honest, based on the past few years, getting off the waitlist is extremely hard. Yet, it does happen from time to time. So, what do you have to lose? My advice:
- Expect the worst, hope for the best.
- Definitely make sure you let the admissions office know you are still interested. Write them a letter restating your interest in the school and why you are interested and what you can provide to their school’s community.
- If you have new grades, accomplishments, awards, etc. be sure to pass the news along to the admissions office.
Best of luck! You will need patience.

Just a bit of hope to those who get the regular mail WL letter. Applied as a sophomore/boarder. My d got the WL letter and we updated regularly her grades, awards, etc. She also wrote a letter (mailed) saying that she appreciated being waitlisted and how much see wanted to remain on the waitlist. We got the phone call 7/2( yes JULY!) she was accepted with 80% Financial Aid. So hang in there and keep in contact with whoever in administration you have a relationship with (or form one).
GOOD LUCK!! Great school and she is doing VERY well- but it is a HUGE adjustment

BTW she also applied and was WL’ed at Exeter as well and we heard from them mid July.

andovermom, you have NO idea how much better you made me feel with that post =)

oh. and bumppppppp :D

wow, that is great! I got WLed at Hotchkiss, my 1st choice.

I sort of can’t believe that my friend, who didn’t even get an interview, got waitlisted at Exeter just because she plays softball!

I probably would’ve gotten rejected, but I’m kind of spunky, if I do say so myself, lol…

I got contacted by Deerfield interviewer, I just need to send in two sheets on financial aid!! She’s says then I’m in in!!

aaah congrats jyun!!

Andover mom, Thanks for sharing your story. What did you do with the other school? Did you just back out in July?

grats jyun, I was accepted to Deerfield also, Are you going to go?

ahem. bump. excuse me…
